When are TOEFL test dates, and how do I register?

When are TOEFL test dates?

The TOEFL test dates in Korea for November and December 2026 are the 20 days marked on the calendar below (ETS registration screen, checked 2026-11-02).

Not every test center opens on all of these dates. Wednesday tests run only at test centers in Seoul and Incheon, and test centers outside Seoul mostly open on Saturdays. Sunday tests run twice a month at some test centers in Seoul, Incheon, Goyang and Daegu (ETS registration screen, checked 2026-11-02).

Dates and remaining seats differ by test center and change every month. The registration screen shows only sessions with seats left, so if you want a particular date, search your city on the registration screen early.

What time does the TOEFL test start?

Most test centers start at 10 a.m., and some test centers in Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Busan, Daegu and Daejeon open a second session between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Afternoon start times are 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. depending on the test center, and some test centers start at 9 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. (ETS registration screen, checked 2026-11-02).

You must arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before your assigned start time. If you arrive or check in after the start time, you cannot take the test and your test fee is not refunded (Information Bulletin, page 8).

How long the test takes is in the Unlock Prep guide "How long is the 2026 TOEFL iBT?".

Where are the TOEFL test centers in each region?

From the test centers on the ETS registration screen for November and December 2026, we picked those that open often in each region. Addresses are our English rendering of the registration screen listing (checked 2026-11-02).

Test center lists and open dates can change. When you register, check the address and start time next to the test center name.

How do I register for the TOEFL?

You register online in your ETS account, in this order.

1. Create an ETS account: the account name must exactly match the English name on the ID you will present on test day (Information Bulletin, page 3).
2. Choose the test format and city: on the registration screen, choose Test Center and search for a city.
3. Choose the date, test center and start time: select a date on the calendar to see each test center's start times.
4. Pay: the test fee in Korea is US$232 (ETS fee page, checked 2026-11-02). The amount in won and the extra costs are in "How much is the TOEFL test fee?".

ETS accounts and test registrations cannot be transferred to anyone else (Information Bulletin, page 3).

When are the TOEFL registration, rescheduling and refund deadlines?

All registration and change deadlines count back from the test date. The third column shows the day for a Saturday test (Information Bulletin, pages 3 to 4).

For tests taken in Korea, the refund depends on when you cancel (Information Bulletin, page 4).

You change or cancel a test date in your ETS account or by phone, not by mail, by email or at the test center. There is no limit on the number of times you can test, but you cannot test twice within 3 days, even if you canceled the scores from the earlier test (Information Bulletin, pages 3 to 4).

How should I choose my TOEFL test date?

Count back from the date your scores are due.

1. First check each institution's score arrival deadline. Requirements and deadlines differ by institution, so also see the Unlock Prep guide "What TOEFL score do I need?".
2. Scores appear in your ETS account about 3 days after the test (Information Bulletin, page 11). How long institutions take to receive them depends on how they receive scores: about 4 to 8 business days for ETS Data Manager, about 8 to 10 business days for server feeds, and about 10 to 12 business days plus mailing time for postal mail (4 to 6 weeks outside the United States) (ETS "Sending Your TOEFL iBT Scores", checked 2026-11-03).
3. Choose the 4 score report recipients included in your test fee by 10 p.m. (local time at the test center) the day before the test (Information Bulletin, page 11). The ETS scores page ("Understanding TOEFL Scores") gives the deadline as 10 p.m. on the test day (checked 2026-11-03). Our view: go by the earlier one. How to send them is in "TOEFL score submission: should I send the 1 to 6 band or the 0 to 120 score?".
4. In case you do not reach your target score on the first try, leave room for one more test date before the deadline.

Once you have a date, it helps to spend the remaining time practicing on a screen like the real test. How to choose a mock test is in the Unlock Prep guide "How to choose a TOEFL mock test for the 2026 TOEFL iBT".
